Graduate Assistantships Program

Graduate Assistantships are awarded through the School of Graduate Studies to individual departments of instruction and require students to spend a specified amount of time (minimum 20 hrs/wk) assisting either in instruction, research, or academic support. Graduate assistants are required by the graduate school to register for a minimum of eight hours of graduate credit per quarter.

Awards
The criteria for awarding the Graduate Assistantship will be based on the needs and requirements of the managing Faculty or Staff member. Financial need is not a criterion for selection of graduate assistants.

Tuition Waiver
Graduate assistants will receive a fee waiver for the academic year in which they are awarded the assistantship. A monthly stipend for the first year and an increase for the second year is awarded (contact our college's business manager to learn the current amounts - Kevin Watson, (937) 775-2635. )

Application
Applicants are required to submit a Graduate Assistantship Application as well as two Letters of Recommendation forms completed by a faculty member and/or a former employer which can attest to the applicant's abilities as both a student as well as an employee. Resumes, written letters of recommendation, and any other information which would attest to the applicant's ability to succeed as both a Graduate student as well as a Graduate Assistant may be included in the file, but are not required. Applications are available from the School of Graduate Studies, 3rd floor Student Union, or from our college's Director of Graduate Programs, Dr Charles Ryan, 378 Allyn Hall. Call or email us if you wish for an application to mailed to you.

Available assistantships are not always advertised, most times we are not aware of an opportunity until a faculty member contacts us with a request to review our application pool.
