Middle Childhood – Graduate Program

The post-baccalaureate program is designed to provide middle childhood educators with licensure. The program spans 12-15 months. Candidates with the required prerequisites may begin the program during the summer B term or choose to begin during the winter term. Incoming non-WSU graduate students must take courses comparable to undergraduate phase 1 learning experiences. These must be taken prior to the summer B or winter term starting dates and are listed below under Introductory Courses.

Starting in the summer B or winter terms all middle childhood level students complete the program as a cohort taking specifically developed coursework as well as attending school placement(s) for a year long middle childhood level internship. Interns develop knowledge, dispositions and performances aligned with the Pathwise/Praxis four domains and 19 criteria. The intern's teaching preparedness and proficiency is documented in a middle childhood level professional educator's portfolio, an inquiry project, and with other indicators of effectiveness.
