Two paths provide a path to school nurse licensure: a nurse who completes the M.S. program or the School Nurse Certificate Program which is a graduate non-degree program, a collaboration between the College of Nursing and Health and the College of Education and Human Services. College of Nursing and Health School Nurse Requirements

SCHOOL NURSE
Pupil Services License

Students seeking a license in School Nurse must hold a bachelor's degree with course work in growth and development, psychology, sociology, and/or anthropology. Each candidate must also have course work in community health and a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing.

Upon successful completion of the School Nurse licensure program of study, the student is eligible for a Pupil Services: School Nurse license (#270800).

Total Quarter Hours: 22 quarter hours

Note: There is current no Praxis II content test required for School Nurse licensure.

Students must successfully complete an all-day, 10 week Monday through Friday practicum in a school under the supervision of a university supervisor and a licensed school nurse.
