Department of Professional Development

The Division of Professional Development is responsible for staff development institutes at the main Wright State campus and at convenient locations throughout the Miami Valley, Cincinnati, Kings Mills, Troy and Xenia. These institutes reach over 10,000 teachers and administrators annually by offering continuing education through workshops and classes designed for educational and counseling/human services professionals.

The Ed Link-12 (Educational Leadership Information Network K-12) is heavily involved in planning for school improvement, providing collaborative in-service training support and coordinating district wide Professional Development for nearly 50 school systems. This provides needed networking among area school administrators.

Apply Today for an AP Fellows Scholarship!

The College Board AP Fellows program is an annual competitive grant program that provides scholarships for secondary school teachers planning to teach AP courses in schools that serve minority and/or low-income students who have been traditionally underrepresented in AP courses. Each recipient of a 2010 College Board AP Fellows Scholarship will be offered $1,000 to attend a College Board–endorsed AP Summer Institute.

AP Summer Institutes provide an excellent opportunity for teachers to gain command of a specific AP subject and to receive up-to-date information on the latest curriculum changes. Teachers from around the world come together at these institutes to exchange ideas and information about AP courses and exams.
The application deadline is February 15, 2010. For more information, please go to www.collegeboard.com/cbfellows/.

Additionally, AP teachers from Partnership Schools may apply for an AP Summer Institute fee waiver through their local superintendants office. The fee waiver may not be used in conjunction with the College Board scholarship. Graduate credit is available at an additional cost.

Partnership Schools are:

Dayton Public Schools
Fairborn City Schools
Milton-Union Exempted Village Schools
Reading Community City Schools
Trotwood-Madison City Schools
Troy City Schools
West Carrolton City Schools
