The Rehabilitation Services program offers undergraduates the opportunity to learn entry-level rehabilitation skills. Students are taught to understand the total impact of disability upon the individual and how to work as a team member by coordinating and matching client needs with available resources. Business and Organizational Management Counseling
Prepares graduates with basic counseling, interviewing, training, management and/or consultation skills. Master's level management courses provide for a program like few other's. Graduates qualify for a variety of positions in the business, government, non-profits, social services, and consulting. Additional coursework can lead to professional counseling licensure. more>>
Marriage and Family Counseling
This concentration prepares students to counsel families, couples, individuals and or groups. Students are trained in traditional counseling theory and techniques as well as the systemic perspective. This training prepares students to interpret, and intervene with problems associated with marriage and family life. This degree prepares students for work as a professional counselor who specializes in work with couples and families. Some additional course work is required for Ohio counseling licensure. This additional work includes a practicum and four advanced clinical courses in diagnosis, assessment, personality theory, and case formulation. more>>
Clinical Mental Health Counseling
Prepares graduates work with individuals of all ages on a variety of issues (e.g., abuse and neglect, crisis, substance abuse, personal, career, mental illness, and/or interpersonal problems). The curriculum provides a blend of counselor training experiences designed to provide the skills and knowledge necessary to become a professional counselor. Students learn theories and techniques for counseling individuals, families and groups, and administration and interpretation of psychometric assessment. This program requires the completion of a 100 hour practicum and a 600 hour internship. The practicum can be completed in one quarter (or semester), and the internship takes a minimum of two quarters (or semesters) to complete. This major has all the courses required to qualify for admission to the Ohio professional counselor licensure exam. more>>
School Counseling
This program prepares graduates to become guidance counselors in the K-12 school setting. The curriculum emphasis is in school guidance, clinical counseling principles, guidance program development, and implementation and evaluation procedures. Students are also required to complete a 100 hour practicum and 600 hour internship. The practicum can be completed in one quarter (or semester), and the internship takes a minimum of two quarters (or semesters) to complete. Graduates of this program are eligible for licensure as school counselors. more>>
Rehabilitation Counseling: Chemical Dependency
This program leads to a Master of Rehabilitation Counseling (M.R.C.) degree and qualifies graduates to sit for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) examination. The curriculum provides in-depth study of addictions, rehabilitation, and counseling theory and practice. Graduates work as chemical dependency and rehabilitation counselors, prevention specialists, and employee assistant counselors. This program is available completely online or in a tradition classroom setting. more>>
Rehabilitation Counseling: Severe Disabilities
This program leads to a Master of Rehabilitation Counseling (M.R.C.) degree and qualifies graduates to sit for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) examination. Graduates of this program can work with people experiencing a variety of concerns that include physical, mental, emotional, and or social disabilities. The Severe Disabilities program leads to careers as vocational evaluators, rehabilitation counselors, and rehabilitation specialist. Graduates work is a variety of settings, which include hospitals, local, state, and federal agencies, and private practice.
