Kinesiology and Health
The Department of Kinesiology and Health (KNH) ofers a variety of wellness, fitness and physical activity courses, called Basic Instruction in Physical Education (BIPE), for the general student population at Wright State. Undergraduate degree programs in KNH include Multiage teaching Licensure in Physical Education and Health Education. Sport Science programs prepare Exercise/Fitness Specialists or Sports Managers. Athletic Training program prepares individuals for the sports medicine field. Community Health Education prepares individuals for work in public health, occupational wellness, health care and non-profit agencies. Finally, KNH houses a Master's degree program in Physical Education/Sport Management.
 
Mission Statement
The mission of the department is to educate all individuals in the development of a healthy,active lifestyle, and to advance the health care of physically active individuals through the integration of theoretical and applied practice in educational and clinical settings.

Athletic Training
The athletic trainer is a qualified health care professional educated and experienced in the management of health care problems associated with sports participation. In cooperation with physicians and other allied health care personnel, the athletic trainer functions as an integral member of the athletic health care team in secondary schools, colleges and universities, Professional sports programs, sports medicine clinics, and other health care settings. more>>

Community Health Education
The Bachelor of Science - Education (BS Ed), with specialization in Community Health is an interdisciplinary, community-focused program. Students learn to develop, implement and coordinate health promotion programs and organize communities around health and disease prevention issues. Community Health graduates leave prepared for careers as independent consultants or in nonprofit community organizations, private businesses, hospitals, schools (non-teaching), or city, county, state or other governmental health departments or agencies. more>>

The Department of Kinesiology and Health at Wright State University prepares health educators to meet the Ohio Department of Education multi-age licensure requirements for students pre-kindergarten through grade 12 in dynamic and diverse educational settings. In addition, students may also choose undergraduate concentrations in adapted physical education and athletic training with graduate training available in the school nurse program.

Sport Management
The Master of Arts Program in Physical Education Sport Management Certification provides professional preparation for management and leadership positions with professional sports teams, intercollegiate programs at colleges and universities, interscholastic athletics, and amateur athletic organizations. Although we have a program of study for our students, we remain flexible so that students can receive the education that is best suited for their future careers.

Sports Science
Sports science is the study of the body’s response to exercise and physical activity. The field is comprised of various sub-disciplines including exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor behavior, and the psychology of physical activity. Sports scientists rely on scientific principles in the areas of biology, chemistry, and physics to advance their understanding of how the body responds to exercise and to advocate physical activity to prevent and treat chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
