Library Media
Licensure with optional Master's of Education

WSU offers one of two school library media programs in Ohio and is nationally recognized by the American Association of School Librarians. Students may earn a M.Ed. in library media and/or the multiage Library Media License (#050675). Students with a current teaching license in another field should apply for the advanced license track. Students without a teaching license should apply for the initial license track.

Library Media Licensure Program - Advanced Track

Upon successful completion of the Library Media licensure program of study and passing the Praxis II exam in Library Media (#10310), the holder of an Ohio standard teaching credential is eligible for a Multiage Library Media (#050675) multiage license. Students have the option of completing a Master of Education.

Library Media Licensure Program - Initial Track

Students seeking a Multiage Library Media license, who have a bachelors degree but who do not have a current teaching certificate or license, need to complete a 72 hour program of study. They must also pass a Praxis II Principles of Learning and Teaching Exam - K-6 (#30522) or 5-9 (#30523) or 7-12 (#30524) - as well as the Praxis II content knowledge exam for library media (#10310). The candidate is then eligible for a Multiage Library Media License (#050675) license. M.Ed. coursework can be applied to the licensure requirements.

Library Media M.Ed. Program

Students may earn a Master of Education degree in Library Media by completing a program of study including educational foundation courses as well as courses required in the licensure program. Total 48/49 quarter hours.
