Career and Technical Education
The 46-credit hour Career and Technical Education master’s degree program includes 37-credit hours of licensure coursework at the graduate level plus 9-credit hours of educational research. Designed for students who are employed as secondary Career and Technical Education instructors, possess job-relevant competence and an undergraduate degree from an accredited university (per WSU guidelines), the sequence of courses for licensure is completed in two years (including summers) and the remaining educational research coursework may be completed in one year, totaling three years. Several courses are delivered via web-based instruction; mainly courses are delivered via face-to-face instruction and provide interaction among teacher education faculty, pre-service teachers and guest speakers along with opportunities for interpersonal and social contact, and observation of non-verbal communication and role modeling of instructional delivery. Emphasis for this program is on assisting students with the transition from business/industry to education.
