It is difficult to imagine life in the Miami Valley without the graduates of Wright State University’s College of Education and Human Services. They guide the education of our children from preschool through high school and restore hope and balance to individuals and families in crisis. They are parole officers, athletic trainers, adoption caseworkers, school nurses, human resource coordinators, counselors, teachers, and principals. They are often unsung heroes, but in the most direct and personal ways, they improve the quality of life for everyone who lives in the region. (From “Tomorrow Takes Flight: A Case for Support”)

Three decades and nearly 20,000 alumni later, the College of Education and Human Services remains dedicated to training the people who help the citizens of Miami Valley think critically, act responsibly, and lead more productive lives. Your support of the college’s education initiatives will enable us to make even greater strides in ensuring that human services and educational excellence becomes a fact of life for every Miami Valley resident.

The College of Education and Human Services is grateful for the support and commitment of its alumni, faculty and friends to ensuring quality education to the area’s future and current educators and human services professionals. It is through your generous efforts that the college is able to succeed in its mission of “preparing professionals to meet the educational, leadership and human services needs of a diverse, democratic society”.

Because the competition for fundraising dollars increases each year, your gift to the College of Education and Human Services is very important. Below are just a few of the many initiatives you can support at the college.

Dean’s Fund

Through unrestricted giving, The College of Education and Human Services can meet pressing challenges for which no other funding is available. As future opportunities are impossible to predict, general unrestricted gifts provide the necessary flexibility to absorb and meet these opportunities as they arise.

Last year, the dean used this fund to award over $40,000 in student scholarships in an effort to ease the financial burden so many of our students incur when they enroll.

Scholarships

One of the college’s top funding priorities is increasing the dollars available to our students through scholarships. Currently, more and more of our students must borrow to meet their educational expenses.

Establishing a scholarship or fellowship can be a most rewarding way of giving. A named scholarship or fellowship may also be a simple and practical means of honoring or memorializing a friend, colleague or loved one. By combining your gracious support with the College of Education and Human Services, we can help ease the financial burden of our students for the future.

Technology

The teachers of tomorrow must be conversant and creative with the latest educational technology. By investing in the college’s technology needs, you unable us to create technology rich classrooms and ensure that all faculty members have the educational training experiences necessary to improve the knowledge and skills of their students.
